Olla Specialty Coffee: white coffee, rocher & cookies and cream waffle ($22.18)!
Olla Specialty Coffee: a Belgian waffle topped with Ferrero Rocher and cookies and cream gelato scoops, plus a white coffee with rosetta latte art. $22.18.
A cafe stop with BB at Olla Specialty Coffee: a Belgian waffle with two gelato scoops and a white coffee for $22.18. The classic cafe dessert combo. π
What was on the table ($22.18):
- A Belgian-style waffle, golden-brown with deep pockets, dusted with icing sugar
- A Ferrero Rocher gelato scoop (left), light caramel-brown with visible nut bits
- A cookies and cream gelato scoop (right), white base shot through with dark chocolate cookie chunks
- A black ceramic cup of white coffee with a neat rosetta latte art on top
Olla Specialty Coffee builds its menu around single-origin espresso, Belgian waffles and gelato, and this plate is their bread and butter. The waffle was the deep-pocket Belgian style rather than the chewy Liège kind, crisp on the outside and fluffy within, the pockets there to catch the melting gelato.
The two scoops gave the flavour contrast: the Ferrero Rocher with its chocolate-hazelnut-praline richness, and the cookies and cream with cool vanilla and crunchy cookie bits. The white coffee was Ollaβs flat-white style, espresso and steamed milk poured drier than a latte, finished with a clean rosetta, which you would expect a specialty cafe to land.
At $22.18 for a waffle, two scoops and a drink, it sits in the mid cafe-dessert tier. It was all competent: a proper Belgian waffle, good gelato, tidy latte art, but at $22 the value did not quite hit, and there are waffle cafes doing as well for less. Worth trying once.
Overall: 3.5 / 5. πππΌ Solid Belgian waffle, two good scoops and on-point latte art, just a touch pricey for what it is. Try once.
