Sunday's yong tau foo brunch ($4)!

A wallet-friendly Sunday brunch: a bowl of dry yong tau foo with noodles for $4. ๐Ÿ˜‹

What we had:

This was the dry version of YTF, which is my preferred way to eat it. A tangle of yellow noodles and kway teow tossed in a sweet-savoury sauce, topped with your chosen pieces, mostly the fried ones: crisp fried wanton, fried fish and golden beancurd, which keep their crunch against the saucy noodles.

The bowl of soup on the side does the balancing, a clear, light broth holding bouncy fishballs, stuffed tofu, beancurd pieces and a bit of cabbage. You alternate between the bold, sweet noodles and the clean soup, which keeps the meal from feeling heavy.

The joy of YTF is picking exactly what you fancy, and at $4 for a generous dry bowl plus soup it is honest, satisfying brunch value. A relaxed, no-fuss start to a Sunday.

Overall: 4.4 / 5. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Saucy dry YTF noodles with crunchy fried pieces and a clean fishball soup. Would re-order.
