Saturday cafe — white forest cake + white coffee + mocha. Cake + coffees specialty cafe spread.

White forest cake ($8.50); White coffee (7oz: $5.50); Mocha (7oz: $6)!

A cafe afternoon: white forest cake ($8.50) + white coffee, 7oz ($5.50) + mocha, 7oz ($6). ☕😋

What was on the table ($20):

The white forest cake is the pale cousin of the German Black Forest: instead of dark chocolate sponge, it’s built on a vanilla or white-chocolate sponge with cherries and whipped cream and white-chocolate shavings. It’s sweeter and lighter-looking than the original, the cherries cutting through the cream so it doesn’t get cloying, a pretty, easygoing cafe slice.

On the coffee side, the two drinks split the difference between East and West. The white coffee is the Ipoh-style brew (beans roasted with margarine rather than sugar), giving a smooth, mellow, less-bitter cup served sweet with milk. The mocha is the Western indulgence, espresso with chocolate and steamed milk, rich and dessert-like. Both came in the smaller 7oz size, which keeps the coffee concentrated rather than watery.

At $20 for a cake and two coffees, it was a comfortable, unhurried weekend spread, a bit of local, a bit of Western, and something sweet to share.

Overall: 4.6 / 5. 😋👍🏼 A light white forest cake with a mellow Ipoh white coffee and a rich mocha, a nice East-meets-West cafe spread. Would re-visit.
