The sweet item was the centre of the order. Probably a cake slice, a pastry, or a small dessert plate depending on what the cafe was featuring on the day’s display case. The kind of sweet that’s substantial enough to satisfy but small enough that you finish it without feeling stuffed.
Drinks were the standard cafe options. A specialty coffee for me — probably a flat white or a long black — and a tea for BB. Both came in proper ceramic cups rather than to-go paper.
The tea-time format is one of those small lockdown-era discoveries that we’d kept up through phase 2.
