Tuesday's brunch!

Tuesday phase-2 brunch — home plate of rice, eggs, vegetables. Mid-July working-from-home weekday routine.

Tuesday's brunch!

Tuesday brunch at home — phase 2 reopening was rolling through and we had options for eating out, but the weekday home brunch routine was the comfort default. Same plate, same kitchen, same coffee.

Today’s plate:

The Tuesday brunch is the small-energy meal of the week. You’ve gotten through Monday and you’re building momentum toward Wednesday’s mid-week peak. The cooking energy is steady, neither over-ambitious nor exhausted.

Hot rice base was the fluffy jasmine standby. Properly steamed in the cooker the night before, reheated to perfect consistency.

Fried egg was the M-style sunny-side standard. Crispy white edges, runny golden yolk centred on the plate. The yolk-break-over-rice ritual is the small daily upgrade.

Stir-fried vegetables today were cabbage shreds and carrot strips with smashed garlic and a splash of soy. Tender-crisp, lightly seasoned. The colour break against the beige rice.

Protein was a small portion of pan-fried sausage rounds today — sliced Bratwurst, hit in the pan in its own rendered fat, browned both sides. Crispy casing, juicy inside.

Chilli sauce on the side as always.

We sat at the kitchen table, drank coffee from the V60 dripper, and ate slow. The mid-morning quiet of working-from-home meant we could actually pause and eat without the lunch-rush pressure of the office routine.

Phase 2 had opened up the option of mall food courts and weekday restaurant lunches, but the home brunch had quietly out-competed all of them on the cost, time and zero-queue front.

Overall: 4.2 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Reliable Tuesday home brunch — keeping the routine.
