What we had ($22.50 via Burpple Beyond):
- Chocolate cream éclair with piped cream and golden star tuiles
- Red Christmas éclair with a holly-leaf decoration and sugar pearls
- Praline éclair with caramel-sugar dusting
- Dark chocolate Christmas éclair with candied orange and a “Merry Christmas” disc
- A cappuccino and an espresso
L’Eclair does proper Parisian-style éclairs, and the presentation is half the fun. The choux shells were baked just right, light and crisp, filled with smooth pastry cream and topped with glossy glazes and pretty decorations. They are sizeable too, each about the length of a phone, so four is a proper high-tea spread to share two each.
The December lineup was all festive: the red Christmas one with its holly leaf and the dark chocolate one with candied orange and the little Merry Christmas disc, both lovely and seasonal. The year-round praline was the buttery, nutty crowd-pleaser, and the chocolate cream the rich, kid-friendly classic.
To drink, a cappuccino for BB with a tidy bit of latte art and an espresso for me, both well pulled. With the 1-for-1 bringing a $40-plus high tea down to $22.50, it was a lovely-value little treat.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Four pretty, well-made Parisian éclairs with good coffee, the festive designs made it feel special. Would visit again.
