Elijah Pies — Nutella pie ($7.50+)!
Elijah Pies chocolate Nutella pie: a thick chocolate ganache tart on a dark cookie crust, scattered with chopped hazelnuts. $7.50+.
Dessert: Elijah Pies Nutella pie, $7.50+! 😋
What was in the box:
- A thick wedge of chocolate pie: a dense, fudgy chocolate ganache filling set on a dark cookie crust, the top scattered with chopped hazelnuts for crunch
- The kraft box: “Best Enjoyed Together”, the slice clearly cut for sharing
Elijah Pies is the small-batch pie outfit known for slabs of pie sold by the slice, the kind where the filling is the whole event and the crust is just there to hold it together. The Nutella pie runs the chocolate-hazelnut idea all the way: a set chocolate ganache that slices clean and eats like the inside of a truffle, with the chopped hazelnuts on top doing the textural work so it isn’t all smooth richness.
The crust is the dark-cookie style rather than a pale shortcrust, which keeps the whole slice in one chocolate register instead of fighting the filling. This is a serious-chocolate dessert, not a light one: a sliver goes a long way, which is exactly why the box says share.
At $7.50+ a slice, this sits at the cafe-dessert price point, fair for the density and the quality of the chocolate.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Rich, fudgy, the hazelnuts earning their place. Would re-order, ideally with two forks.
