Nando's grilled chicken tenders + corn + mixed veg!
Nando's Singapore Bugis — Mild PERi-PERi grilled chicken tenders, twin grilled corn on the cob, mixed roasted vegetables.
Lunch — Nando’s Bugis for grilled chicken tenders + corn on the cob + mixed veg. The Portuguese flame-grill chain. 😋
What was on the plate:
- Grilled chicken tenders (5 pieces) — strips of chicken breast/tender, flame-grilled with PERi-PERi marinade, the orange “MILD” flag stuck in the front piece indicating spice level.
- Two pieces of grilled corn on the cob — golden kernels with light char marks from the flame grill.
- A red bowl of mixed roasted vegetables — broccoli florets, carrot sticks, red bell pepper strips, red onion, with hints of melted cheese on the broccoli.
Nando’s is the Portuguese-South African flame-grill chicken chain, the SG outlets do butterflied chicken + chicken tenders + wings/thighs all marinated in their signature PERi-PERi sauce (made from African bird’s eye chilli) at heat levels from plain → mild → medium → hot → extra hot.
Chicken tenders are the leaner protein option — the inner-breast strip cuts, flame-grilled instead of fried, lower-calorie than the wings or full butterflied chicken. Less skin = less fat but also less flavour retention. The MILD PERi-PERi marinade helps add the smoky-chilli depth back.
MILD is the entry-tier spice — citrus + paprika + a touch of bird’s eye chilli, but no real heat. For BB-friendly meals (or kid-friendly). Step up to MEDIUM or HOT for the proper PERi punch.
Corn on the cob is the Nando’s side standout — corn rotated over the flame grill until the kernels get light caramelisation + char marks. Sweet + smoky. Two pieces is the half-cob portion = decent value as a side.
Mixed roasted vegetables are the lighter side option — broccoli + carrot + bell pepper + onion roasted in olive oil + Portuguese herbs. The visible melted cheese on broccoli is the unexpected garnish (some outlets do this, some don’t — depends on the day).
Total: around $20-22 for this plate at Nando’s pricing.
Overall: 4 / 5. Chicken tenders were leaner but MILD marinade was the right starter spice, corn was smoky-sweet, mixed veg was the lighter alternative to standard fries. Healthy-ish Nando’s combo. 😋👍🏼
