What was on the black plate ($5):
- Thin yellow mee kia noodles dressed in dark soya + sesame oil.
- Sliced char siew with dark charred edges + pink interior.
- Lady fingers + choy sum greens.
- Fried wonton skins (yellow crispy triangles) on the right.
- Side bowl of clear pork broth (top).
Wanton mee variant — with the fried wonton skins (golden crisp triangles) as the textural side instead of the standard boiled wontons. Less filling but more crunch.
$5 = solid hawker wanton mee pricing.
Overall: 4.1 / 5. Char siew had proper char, noodles had spring, fried wonton skins added crunch, lady fingers were the bonus green. Standard hawker char siew mee. 😋👍🏼
