Chai latte ($8) & Flat white ($7)!
A cafe stop: a spiced chai latte dusted with cinnamon and a flat white with a tidy rosetta, in cheery red cups. $15.
A relaxed cafe afternoon with BB and two cups to settle into: a chai latte ($8) and a flat white ($7), served in cheery red cups. โ๐
What we had ($15 total):
- Chai latte: dusted on top, with a cinnamon stick to stir
- Flat white: poured with a neat rosetta in the foam
The chai latte was the cosy, aromatic one. A spiced black-tea base whisked into steamed milk, fragrant with cardamom, cinnamon, clove and ginger, so each sip is warm, milky and gently spiced with a little tingle of heat at the back. The cinnamon stick and the dusting on top made it feel like a proper treat, the sort of drink you wrap both hands around and slow right down for.
The flat white was the coffee-loverโs pick. A short, strong shot of espresso under a thin layer of silky steamed milk, less foamy than a latte and more concentrated, so the coffee really sings. The tidy rosetta on top is always a good sign the milk was steamed properly.
One spiced and soothing, one bold and creamy, they made a lovely pair to share over a chat. Both were nicely made, and exactly the kind of unhurried cafe wind-down I enjoy.
Overall: 4.6 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ A fragrant spiced chai and a smooth, strong flat white, the best of tea and coffee. Would re-visit.
