McDonald’s keeps things interesting with these limited drops, and this was a good one. The spicy McNuggets are the chilli-spiked version of the classic, same crispy, golden-battered nuggets but with a warm kick of heat baked into the coating. Dunked in the sweet curry sauce, the spicy-and-sweet combo was moreish.
The real fun, though, is the shaker fries. You get the hot fries in a paper bag plus a sachet of French onion seasoning, tip the powder in, and shake it all up so every fry gets coated. It turns plain fries into something savoury and a little addictive, all caramelised-onion, cheesy, umami flavour. Shaking the bag yourself is half the appeal.
It is a cheap, cheerful, slightly novelty snack rather than a proper meal, but that is exactly what makes these limited drops fun, you grab it because it is new, and it delivers. A good quick treat to catch before it disappears off the menu.
