Curry chicken noodles ($3.50)!

A warming, wallet-friendly hawker lunch: curry chicken noodles, $3.50. ๐Ÿ˜‹

What I had:

This is exactly the bowl you crave on a rainy day. The heart of it is the curry gravy: a coconut-based curry, creamy and golden, fragrant with chilli, lemongrass and spice, with that lovely orange sheen of chilli oil on top. It is rich and warming without being too fiery, the kind of gravy you want clinging to everything.

The bee hoon (thin rice noodles) is the perfect carb here, slurpable and quick to soak up all that sauce, so every mouthful is full of curry flavour. There were tender shreds of chicken through it for protein, and a few stalks of choy sum to keep it fresh and balance the richness.

A squeeze of lime and a dab of chilli sharpen it up if you like. It is comforting, full-flavoured and satisfying, the kind of unpretentious bowl that warms you right through. At $3.50, it is honest hawker value that is getting harder to find, and exactly the sort of cheap, soul-warming plate I love.

Overall: 4.5 / 5. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Slurpy bee hoon in a rich, fragrant coconut curry with tender chicken, comforting and great value. Would re-order.
