烧鸭 叉烧 烧肉 饭 / Triple roast meat rice ($6.80 each)!

A roast-meat lover’s dream lunch with BB: 烧鸭 叉烧 烧肉 饭 (roast duck, char siew and siu yuk rice), $6.80 each. 😋

What we had ($13.60 for two):

Why pick one roast meat when you can have all three? This is the full Cantonese siu mei repertoire on one plate, and each brings something different.

The char siew is the sweet one: slices of honey-glazed roast pork with that glossy, caramelised, lacquered edge and a little char, sticky and savoury-sweet. The siu yuk (roast pork belly) is the crispy one: crackly skin on top, layers of fat and tender meat underneath, that satisfying crunch as you bite. And the roast duck is the savoury, aromatic one, tender meat with a fragrant five-spice depth.

It all sits over rice with a glossy dark sauce spooned over so the grains soak it up, with a couple of chilli dips on the side for heat. Working between the three meats, a bit of sweet, a bit of crispy, a bit of savoury, keeps every mouthful interesting right to the end.

Generous, indulgent and full of flavour. At $6.80 for all three meats, great value.

Overall: 4.7 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Sweet char siew, crispy siu yuk and aromatic roast duck all on one plate, a roast-meat feast. Would re-order.
