The combination provides the slight grassy notes of green tea with the sour-sweet-bitter complexity of grapefruit citrus, with the fruit pieces floating in the cup for the textural variety.
The green tea base was the proper brewed kind — slightly grassy, faintly bitter, with the pale-jade colour that comes through the cup. Some chains use a roasted-green or jasmine-green variant; this stall ran the cleaner straight-green version that lets the grapefruit be the headline.
The grapefruit chunks were the visible upgrade. Fresh grapefruit segments (probably pink or ruby grapefruit for the colour) cut into chunks and dropped into the cup before the tea.
