Stärker is the local fresh-beer chain, and the happy-hour board (all flavours, $13.90 a full pint) made it easy to settle in. We both went for the lychee one, which arrived hazy and golden in the branded mugs with a soft foamy head.
The lychee flavour was the appeal: fragrant and lightly sweet, with that floral lychee perfume coming through over an easy, fresh wheat-beer base. It is approachable and fruity rather than bitter or hoppy, the kind of beer that goes down very easily, especially the unfiltered “fresh beer” style which drinks soft and a little fuller.
At $13.90 a pint on happy hour it was a fair pour for a sit-down, and clinking glasses to kick off the weekend is always a nice ritual. Cold, fruity and refreshing, an easy Friday drink.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Hazy, fragrant lychee fresh beer, easy-drinking and fruity. Would re-order.
