Chateraise macadamia butterscotch ice cream ($2.50)!

A little mid-week treat: a Chateraise Premium ice cream cup in macadamia butterscotch, $2.50. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ˜‹

What we had:

Chateraise is the Japanese sweets chain, and their premium little Hokkaido ice cream cups are a reliable cheap treat. This one was macadamia butterscotch, and the flavour was exactly as it should be: a rich, caramelised butterscotch base, deep and toffee-ish with that butter-and-brown-sugar sweetness, made with Hokkaido milk so it tastes creamy rather than just sugary.

Through it were macadamia pieces, buttery and crunchy, that bit of nutty texture and a slightly savoury edge to balance all the sweetness. The two go together really well, the rich butterscotch and the dense, toasty nut.

It is a small cup, but at $2.50 for a premium Japanese ice cream it is a lovely, affordable indulgence, the kind of thing to grab on a whim and eat on the spot. Sweet, creamy and crunchy, no complaints.

Overall: 4.4 / 5. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Rich butterscotch with buttery macadamia crunch, a great little Chateraise treat. Would re-order.
