TGIT zi char lunch (7 pax - $68.90)!
A shared zi char lunch for seven: egg fu yong, stir-fried greens, ginger spring onion beef, butter floss prawns and braised beancurd with enoki. $68.90.
A big shared zi char lunch with the group, seven of us round the table: $68.90 for the spread (about $9.80 each). ๐
What we shared:
- Egg fu yong: a big fluffy omelette
- Stir-fried kailan in garlic
- Ginger and spring onion beef: tender slices in a savoury brown sauce
- Butter floss prawns: crisp prawns tossed in that creamy buttery floss
- Braised beancurd with enoki: tau pok and enoki mushrooms in a starchy gravy
- A small dish of cut chilli padi in soy
This is the joy of eating in a group, you get to order across the whole table and everyone digs in. The ginger and spring onion beef was a favourite, tender slices coated in a glossy, savoury sauce heavy with spring onion. The butter floss prawns were the indulgent one, crisp and golden under that sweet, milky buttery floss, the kind of dish that disappears fast.
The egg fu yong came big and fluffy, lovely with a drizzle of the chilli soy, and the stir-fried kailan was the fresh, garlicky green to balance everything. The braised beancurd with enoki was the comforting one, soft tau pok soaking up a savoury gravy with slippery enoki mushrooms.
A proper spread to share across seven, with enough variety that everyone found something they loved, and great value at under ten dollars a head.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ A generous zi char spread with that lovely ginger spring onion beef and buttery floss prawns. Would re-do with the group.
