GrabFood dinner ($36)!
Sunday circuit-breaker GrabFood dinner — $36 spread of mains and sides. Sunday-night lockdown delivery comfort dinner.
Sunday circuit-breaker dinner with BB — $36 GrabFood spread to close out the weekend. The kind of “let’s just order something proper” dinner where we splurge a bit because the lockdown weeks were grinding on and we deserved a treat.
We ordered:
- Two mains (Asian-Western mix)
- Side dishes (vegetable + carb)
- Drinks
Total: $36 via GrabFood delivery.
The spread was the multi-component dinner that’s hard to coordinate when both of you want different cuisines. GrabFood pulls from one restaurant per order, so we picked a spot that had both BB’s preferred Asian noodle and my Western protein option on the same menu.
Mains were the substance. The Asian dish had proper wok flavour (the kind that survives the 25-minute delivery time because the broth is hot and the noodles are al dente), and the Western dish was a grilled protein with sauce on the side rather than poured over (which is the right delivery move — sauce in a small ramekin stays separate, sauce on the plate makes the protein soggy).
Side dishes covered the missing components — a vegetable side because mains rarely include enough greens, and a small carb base if the main didn’t come with one.
Drinks were the standard takeaway-cup format. GrabFood always seals them properly so the rider doesn’t have a juice-leak disaster en route.
$36 for two people on a Sunday lockdown dinner is fair splurge pricing — full sit-down restaurant equivalent would’ve been closer to $60. The delivery markup is real but the trade-off with not getting dressed, not commuting, and eating in pyjamas was worth it for a Sunday night.
Lockdown dinner economics turned us into careful delivery-app shoppers.
Overall: 4.4 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Solid GrabFood spread — would re-order.
