Thursday's lunch!

Thursday August phase-2 lunch — home plate of rice, eggs, vegetables. Back to weekday kitchen after Wednesday's restaurant break.

Thursday's lunch!

Thursday lunch back at home with BB — Wednesday’s sit-down restaurant break was the small mid-week diversion, and Thursday returned us to the home kitchen.

Today’s plate:

The Thursday lunch sits in the steady mid-to-late week rhythm. The work week’s momentum is built, the weekend is starting to feel close. The cooking energy is in autopilot mode — same components, same skillet, same kitchen counter, same 15-minute timeframe from start to plate.

Hot rice base was the standard fluffy jasmine.

Fried egg was the M-style sunny-side. Crispy white edges, runny golden yolk.

Stir-fried vegetables today were cabbage shreds with carrot strips, smashed garlic and a splash of soy.

Pan-seared protein was a small portion of sausage rounds — sliced Bratwurst, hit in its rendered fat.

Chilli sauce on the side as always.

We sat at the kitchen counter, drank coffee from the V60, ate slow. The phase-2 work-from-home routine had locked in the home weekday lunch as the default and we weren’t fighting it.

The contrast across the week was the interesting observation. Wednesday’s $26.20 restaurant lunch was a small mid-week diversion that broke up the routine; Thursday’s $4 home lunch was the return-to-normal that we both genuinely preferred. The home plate had become the more comfortable option, even when the restaurant option was sitting right there.

Some weekday meals are better at home. Lockdown taught us which ones.

Overall: 4.2 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Reliable Thursday home lunch — keeping the routine.
