What we had ($28.60++ for two):

Eat 3 Bowls is at B1-17 in Compass One, 1 Sengkang Square, right by Sengkang MRT. It started as a hawker stall and has grown to around ten outlets, and the format is the same everywhere: instead of committing to one big plate, you get three small ones on a bamboo board.

That is the whole appeal. Three of their signatures arrive in little brass bowls, so you taste the lot without any one of them defeating you halfway through. We ordered two sets between us, which is why the photo looks like a small banquet.

The braised pork rice was the best of the three. Finely diced pork belly stewed down until the fat had gone soft and glossy, spooned over white rice with spring onion on top, sweet and savoury in that soy-and-five-spice way. One of ours came with a piece of braised pork belly on top as well.

The shredded chicken rice is the quieter bowl, poached chicken torn into strands over rice with a little sauce and coriander. Plainer, less sweet, and a good reset between mouthfuls of the pork.

The third bowl is the oyster and pig intestine mee sua, and it is the one that splits people. Thin mee sua in a thick, starchy broth with braised pig intestines, a couple of oysters, coriander and a heap of grated ginger on top. The ginger is essential here, cutting through the richness of the intestines.

Fourteen-something for three bowls sounds steep next to a hawker plate, but you are getting three dishes and a decent spread of Taiwanese street food in one sitting.

Overall: 4.5 / 5. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Glossy braised pork, clean chicken rice and a punchy mee sua. The braised pork rice alone would bring me back.
