Delivery — Jiak by Jin Feng (Lu rou beehoon) x Playmade (Honey black tea) — $10!
Circuit-breaker mid-week delivery — Jiak by Jin Feng lu rou beehoon + Playmade honey black tea bundle, $10. The lockdown-era convenience combo.
Wednesday circuit-breaker dinner — back on the Jiak by Jin Feng × Playmade bundle, this round with the lu rou beehoon version instead of the rice base. $10 delivered, dinner-plus-drink, lockdown-era convenience math.
We ordered:
- Jiak by Jin Feng — lu rou beehoon
- Playmade honey black tea
Total: $10 via the bundle deal.
Lu rou beehoon is the noodle variant of the iconic Taiwanese braised pork rice. Same long-braised pork belly with the deep five-spice and dark-soy stock that Jin Feng / Jiak built their reputation on, but ladled over rice vermicelli (bee hoon) instead of short-grain rice.
The bee hoon version has a different texture story. The noodles soak up the braising sauce like sponge — by the time you’re halfway through the box, the bee hoon at the bottom is fully sauce-stained and the pork’s juices have made the whole thing slick. Different mouthfeel from the rice version, but arguably more flavour-loaded.
Pork was the standout, as always with Jin Feng / Jiak. Finely chopped pork belly braised until the fat went silky and the lean melted apart. The sauce had real depth — five-spice, soy, mirin, garlic, all reduced down over real hours rather than rushed.
Playmade honey black tea was the drink pairing. Brewed black tea base, finished with real honey rather than sugar syrup, no milk. Lighter than the brown sugar pearl drink — easier to pair with a savoury main without the dessert weight.
$10 for the bundle is real lockdown convenience pricing. Two separate orders would’ve been closer to $15 plus delivery markups.
Cross-brand collabs were one of the better lockdown innovations.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Excellent lu rou bee hoon + honey tea combo — would re-order.
