Mini-cake variety box — Hazelnut Lava + Cherry + Peach + Portuguese Tart (6 for $11)!
Mini-cake / lava + Portuguese tart variety pack from a HK-style bakery — hazelnut lava, cherry cranberry, peach aloe vera, classic Portuguese egg tart. 1 for $3, 2 for $4, 6 for $11.
Stocked the office with a mini-cake + tart variety pack — hit the 6 for $11 bulk deal. Four flavours, two of each. 😋
What was in the takeaway boxes (6 for $11):
- Hazelnut Lava (top left) — a chocolate-glazed dome with chopped hazelnut crumbs sprinkled on the brown lacquered top. Lava-style soft centre meant to ooze out when you bite (or microwave briefly to revive the lava).
- Cherry Cranberry (bottom left) — a softer golden cake with dark cherry filling peeking through the centre depression. Domed top, slightly browned edges, the fruit-pastry classic.
- Peach Aloe Vera (top right) — a soft yellow-cream cake topped with a generous slice of fresh syrup-glazed peach sitting on top. Filled with aloe vera + peach pieces inside.
- Portuguese Tart (bottom right) — the classic pastel de nata — flaky puff pastry shell with caramelised egg custard showing the signature blistered-dark spots on top.
The 1-for-$3 / 2-for-$4 / 6-for-$11 progressive pricing is the bakery hack — solo treats run $3 each, but buy 6 and the per-piece price drops to ~$1.83. Easy office sharing.
Hazelnut lava was the indulgent chocolate pick (eat warm); cherry cranberry was the fruity comfort; peach aloe vera was the lightest summery one; Portuguese tart was the always-reliable classic.
Total: $11 for 6 pieces.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. Variety box was the right call — different textures + flavours kept the office crowd happy. Portuguese tart custard was the standout for me (proper char marks, not just under-baked); hazelnut lava was the dessert-y favourite. 😍👍🏼
