Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway — Signature all-in combo ($5.50)!
Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway (吃爽) signature all-in dry combo — hand-torn flour sheets with minced pork, pork slices, pork ball, shrimp ball, fried ikan bilis and sweet potato leaves. $5.50.
Lunch at Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway (吃爽) — went for the Signature all-in combo at $5.50. The everything-but-the-kitchen-sink hand-torn noodle bowl. 😋
What was on the branded plate ($5.50):
- A bed of hand-torn mee hoon kway (面粉粿) — irregular flat flour pieces, slightly chewy.
- A generous mound of savoury minced pork in the centre — soya-glazed, properly seasoned.
- Slices of lean pork distributed through the bowl.
- A bouncy pork ball tucked in.
- A pink shrimp ball for the seafood variety.
- A generous scatter of crispy fried ikan bilis on top for the salty crunch.
- A handful of sweet potato leaves for the green and earthy bite.
- Side bowl of clear soup with egg ribbons for the alternating sips.
- A small dish of bright red chilli sauce on the side.
The “all-in combo” is the Jiak Song signature — you get every topping at once instead of picking just one or two. Different textures in every spoonful: chewy noodles, soft minced pork, bouncy ball, crispy ikan bilis, tender greens. Hand-torn noodles are the foundation — they catch sauce and toppings better than standard machine-cut noodles.
Jiak Song is the chain expanding the hand-torn noodle category — they’ve made the dish more accessible (multiple outlets) while keeping the heritage method (hand-torn = uneven, rustic, the right way).
Total: $5.50. Hawker-chain pricing for the upgraded combo.
Overall: 4.4 / 5. The variety made every bite different, ikan bilis crunch was generous, hand-torn flour pieces had the right chew. Will be back. 😍👍🏼
