Ippudo — tonkotsu + shio yuzu ramen (1-for-1 Chope: $19.85)!
Ippudo Singapore second visit — tonkotsu chashu ramen + shio yuzu chicken ramen with Christmas nori, 1-for-1 Chope deal. $19.85 for 2 bowls.
Second Ippudo visit this round — went for the tonkotsu chashu + shio yuzu chicken ramen combo via the Chope 1-for-1 deal. $19.85 for two bowls again. 😋
What was on the table ($19.85 for two bowls via 1-for-1):
- Tonkotsu ramen (bottom bowl, mine) — creamy tan tonkotsu pork bone broth with a chashu pork belly slice, menma (bamboo shoot), shredded negi leek, yellow yuzu zest curls, red chilli flakes, spinach leaves, an ajitama half (perfect orange-jammy yolk), and a Christmas-themed nori sheet printed with “May your Christmas be as warm as our ramen”.
- Shio yuzu chicken ramen (top bowl, BB’s) — clear-style shio (salt) broth with sliced poached white chicken breast, ajitama half, menma, shredded negi, yuzu zest, spinach leaves, on top of Hakata thin noodles. Lighter than the tonkotsu.
- The chain’s signature black ipad order tablet + chopsticks on Ippudo paper napkins.
Second visit because the Chope 1-for-1 voucher keeps making Ippudo affordable. Last time was the yuzu tonkotsu twin; this time tried the shio yuzu chicken version for variety.
The shio yuzu chicken ramen is the underrated alternative — clear salt broth (not pork bone), poached chicken breast (not braised chashu), the same yuzu citrus finish. Lighter + cleaner + lower-fat than tonkotsu but with the same yuzu brightness. BB picked this and finished the whole bowl + broth (rare).
Side-by-side comparison: tonkotsu = heavy comfort, shio yuzu chicken = clean clarity. Same chain, completely different mood. Worth alternating.
The Christmas-themed nori sheets were the December detail — Ippudo prints holiday messages onto the nori for the festive month. Small touch, the kind that makes a chain feel less corporate.
Ajitama eggs were textbook on both bowls — that exact deep orange jammy yolk. Chashu on the tonkotsu was the proper rolled-belly braised version. Chicken on the shio version was sliced poached breast (cleaner than fried/braised).
Chope 1-for-1 deal continues to be the Ippudo SG hack — buy the voucher in advance (around $40), redeem for two ramen + a side, pay only $19.85. Roughly 50% off face price. Available year-round, no blackout dates on signature ramens.
Total: $19.85 for two bowls.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. Shio yuzu chicken was the surprise winner (lighter than tonkotsu), Christmas nori was the festive detail, Chope 1-for-1 makes Ippudo a regular instead of a special occasion. Will keep stacking. 😍👍🏼
