Legendary Bak Kut Teh 發传人肉骨茶!
Legendary Bak Kut Teh at Rangoon Road: the all-ribs ($11.50++) with refillable peppery soup, vinegar pork trotters ($10++), tau kee ($5++) and mee sua ($2.50++). Rainy-day comfort.
Dinner at Legendary Bak Kut Teh (發传人肉骨茶) at Rangoon Road. 😋
Bak kut teh (肉骨茶), “meat bone tea”, is the Teochew-Hokkien pork rib soup, and the Singapore-Teochew style is the clear, peppery version (against the darker, herbal Malaysian one): pork ribs simmered with plenty of white pepper and garlic into a clear, warming broth, the kind of comfort food made for rainy days.
The all-ribs ($11.50++), with refillable soup, the peppery broth that you can keep topping up, perfect comfort food especially during rainy days.

Vinegar pork trotters ($10++), quite a huge portion, the braised trotters in a tangy black-vinegar sauce, though a tad bit too salty and we couldn’t finish it.

Tau kee ($5++), one of the Hokkien favourite sides, the dried beancurd skin that soaks up the peppery soup. Yums!

And lastly, we opted for the mee sua ($2.50++) instead of the usual rice, not too bad, though the noodle texture could be softer, and the soup is refillable too. Mee sua in the peppery bak kut teh broth is a nice change from rice.
Definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby in the Farrer Park area.

Overall: 4.2 / 5. 😋👍🏼 The peppery refillable rib soup with tau kee was the comforting standout. Would re-visit on a rainy day.
