The Plot is known for its macarons, and the big chocolate hazelnut one was the highlight: a proper French macaron scaled up, the almond-meringue shells crisp on the outside and chewy within, sandwiching a rich chocolate-hazelnut filling, basically a giant, more indulgent take on a Ferrero. The strawberry tart was the fresher counterpoint, the crisp pastry and smooth custard balanced by the bright, juicy strawberries on top.
A pot of tea is the right partner for desserts like these, its warmth and slight bitterness cutting through the sweetness so nothing feels cloying. With Burpple Beyond bringing the lot to $11.50, it was a lovely, well-priced little patisserie stop.
