Two scoops of handcrafted ice cream from Merely Ice Cream, made a bargain by Burpple Beyond 1-for-1: a coconut and an Oreo milk for an effective $3.50. π¦π
What we had:
- Coconut ice cream: pale and milky
- Oreo milk ice cream: a greyish cookies-and-cream scoop
Merely scoops their ice cream into little tubs, and both flavours were lovely and dense in that proper handcrafted way, less airy and more intensely flavoured than mass-market tubs.
The coconut was the one I gravitated to: light, fragrant and not too sweet, tasting of real coconut milk with a clean, tropical finish. It is the kind of gentle, refreshing flavour that suits the weather here.
The Oreo milk was the crowd-pleaser of the two, a creamy milk base shot through with crushed Oreo so you get those little bittersweet cookie shards in every spoon, classic cookies-and-cream comfort.
Together they made a nice contrast, one light and tropical, one rich and chocolatey-biscuity. And at $3.50 for both scoops on the deal, it was a steal for ice cream made this well.
