Fish & chips, ice lemon tea & black coffee ($25.20)!
A cafe lunch: a battered fish fillet with fries and a side salad, an ice lemon tea and a black coffee. $25.20.
A relaxed Sunday cafe lunch with BB: fish & chips, an ice lemon tea and a black coffee, $25.20. ๐๐
What we had:
- Fish & chips: a battered fish fillet with fries, a side salad and tartare sauce
- Ice lemon tea
- A black coffee (Americano)
The fish & chips was a tidy plate. A long, battered fish fillet fried golden and crisp, the batter shattering to reveal flaky white fish underneath, served over a bed of fries with a little tub of tartare and a wedge of lemon. A fresh side salad of rocket and tomato cut through the fried richness, which I always appreciate, it stops the whole thing feeling heavy.
To drink, a tall ice lemon tea, properly brewed and tangy over ice, the kind that refreshes against the fried food, and a clean black coffee for me to round it off.
It is a simple, comforting Western lunch, nothing fancy, but well made and satisfying. At $25.20 for the main and two drinks it is fair cafe pricing for a leisurely sit-down. A nice change of pace from the usual hawker rotation.
Overall: 4.4 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ Crispy battered fish with fries and a fresh salad, washed down with tangy lemon tea. Would re-order.
