“Full house” is the everything-on-it set, and that is exactly why you order it. The base is the coconut rice, fragrant and rich from being cooked in coconut milk and pandan, given an extra layer of aroma from its banana-leaf wrapping (that toasty, grassy scent when you open it up is half the pleasure).
Then the toppings, each doing its job: a crisp, juicy fried chicken wing, a fried egg with lacy edges and a soft yolk, crunchy ikan bilis and peanuts for salt and crunch, cool cucumber to refresh, and the all-important sambal, sweet, spicy and deeply savoury. Mix a bit of everything together and you get that classic nasi lemak harmony of fragrant, spicy, crunchy and rich in one mouthful.
Generous, satisfying and properly loaded, this is comfort food at its best. At $4.90 it is great value for the full spread.
