A Western dinner with BB, made a deal by the Upgreat app: grilled chicken and fish and chips for $15++. ๐
What we had:
- Grilled chicken with gravy and a loaded baked potato (topped with chilli con carne and spring onion)
- Fish and chips: beer-battered fish, chunky chips, tartar sauce and slaw
- A cup of soup with garlic bread, plus a black coffee and a scoop of vanilla ice cream
The grilled chicken was the heartier plate: charred and juicy with a glossy gravy, and that baked potato on the side was a treat, split open and piled with savoury minced meat and spring onion, almost a meal in itself.
The fish and chips was the proper pub version: a long fillet in a crisp, golden beer batter, still flaky inside, with thick-cut chips for dunking in the tartar and a bit of slaw to freshen it up. The little cup of soup with garlic bread rounded things out, and finishing on a black coffee and a scoop of ice cream felt nicely complete.
For two hearty Western mains plus the extras, $15 through the app was excellent value, well under the usual menu price.
Overall: 4.7 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ Juicy grilled chicken with a loaded potato and crisp battered fish, great value on the app deal. Would re-do.
