A relaxed cafe stop with BB: a honey milk latte ($5++), an iced latte ($6.50++), and a slice of pandan gula melaka cake ($7.90++), around $23 nett all in. โ๐ฐ๐
What we had:
- Honey milk latte ($5++): poured warm with a heart in the foam
- Iced latte ($6.50++): tall and cold over ice
- Pandan gula melaka cake ($7.90++): a green layer cake topped with coconut
The honey milk latte was the cosy one. Espresso and steamed milk sweetened with honey instead of syrup, so it tasted naturally mellow and rounded rather than cloying. The iced latte was the easy weather-friendly pour, cold milk and espresso over ice, clean and refreshing for a warm Singapore afternoon.
But the cake stole it. The pandan gula melaka layer cake was a beauty: soft, fragrant pandan sponge stacked with cream and a shower of coconut, all carrying that toasty, caramel-deep sweetness of gula melaka (palm sugar) running through it. It is a clever local twist on a layer cake, those nostalgic kueh flavours in a modern cafe slice, and it paired perfectly with the coffees.
A lovely little wind-down: two good coffees and a cake that actually tasted of somewhere.
Overall: 4.7 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ Smooth honey latte, refreshing iced latte and a fragrant pandan gula melaka cake. Would re-visit.
