What we had:
- A beef burger on a sesame bun with fries
- A taller stacked burger on an oatmeal bun, with bacon, tomato and lettuce, and fries
- Two cold Hoegaarden beers
The whole appeal of Fatboyโs is the build-your-own form: you tick your way through patties, buns, cheeses, toppings and sauces, so each burger comes out exactly how you want it. The beef patty was the juicy, properly charred kind, and stacking it on the chewy oatmeal bun with crispy bacon made for a satisfying, messy handful. The simpler sesame-bun one let the beef do the talking. Both came with heaps of crisp fries.
The Hoegaarden was the perfect partner: a cloudy Belgian witbier, soft and lightly citrusy with that hint of orange and coriander, refreshing and easy against the rich, meaty burgers.
It is the kind of relaxed, hands-on dinner that is just fun, customise your burger, grab a cold beer, and dig in. A great casual night out.
