Monday's lunch by the sea (Thailand)!
A Thai seaside lunch spread: sweet and sour fish, stir-fried vegetables, fried noodles, spring rolls, glass noodle soup and fresh fruit.
A relaxed lunch by the sea on our Songkran trip to Thailand, a big shared Thai spread. ๐น๐ญ๐
What we shared:
- Sweet and sour fish: crispy chunks in a tangy red sauce with peppers and pineapple
- Stir-fried mixed vegetables with baby corn
- Fried noodles with bean sprouts and chives
- Fried spring rolls with a dipping sauce
- Glass noodle soup (tang hoon) with pork
- A platter of fresh watermelon and pineapple
Eating Thai food by the water is one of the joys of a beach trip, and we ordered a proper spread to share. The sweet and sour fish was a favourite, crispy battered chunks tossed in a bright, tangy sauce with peppers and sweet pineapple. The stir-fried vegetables kept it fresh and crunchy, colourful with baby corn and greens.
The fried noodles brought the savoury, smoky carbs, and the spring rolls were the crispy bite, golden and shattering, lovely with their sweet dip. The glass noodle soup was the light, soothing one, slippery tang hoon and pork in a clear broth. And the fruit platter of cold watermelon and pineapple was the perfect sweet, juicy finish in the heat.
A generous, varied, sunny meal with the sea breeze going. Holiday eating at its best.
Overall: 4.7 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ A bright, varied Thai spread by the water, that tangy sweet and sour fish was the star. Would re-do.
