The osmanthus latte was the floral specialty drink. Osmanthus (sweet olive flower) is the traditional Chinese flower used in tea, syrups, and desserts. The floral aroma is the headline — sweet, faintly apricot-leaning, with the unmistakable osmanthus perfume coming through against the milk-and-espresso base.
The latte format works with the osmanthus because the espresso depth balances the floral sweetness. Straight osmanthus tea can feel one-dimensional sweet; the coffee base provides the savoury-bitter counterpoint that makes the drink ageable across a longer sit.
The speculoos latte was the spice-cookie variant. Speculoos (the Belgian spice cookie that’s the basis for Lotus Biscoff biscuits) provides the caramelised-cinnamon-spice flavour profile. Made into a latte, the spice notes pair beautifully with the espresso depth — the cinnamon-clove-cardamom warmth complementing the coffee.
The yuzu raspberry sorbet was the cold dessert. Yuzu (the Japanese citrus) paired with raspberry creates the bright sour-floral-fruit combination that’s refreshing in the slightly cooler February weather. The sorbet format (no dairy) lets both ingredients come through cleanly without milk masking.
The ondeh ondeh cake was the local-flavour dessert. The Peranakan kueh translated into a Western cake format — pandan-coloured sponge cake layered with coconut cream and gula melaka (palm sugar) syrup. The same flavour combination as the traditional ondeh ondeh dumplings but reframed as a cafe cake slice.
At $22.10 for the four-item spread, this is fair premium cafe pricing. About $5-6 per item across the lattes, sorbet, and cake.
The two-drink-plus-dessert format is the proper cafe afternoon stop. Slow eating, multiple things to share, the small ceremony of sit-down cafe-ing.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Excellent specialty cafe spread — would re-order.
