A satisfying tze char dinner with BB: an oyster egg omelette ($12) and Hokkien mee ($8). πŸ˜‹

What we had ($20 total):

The oyster omelette is one of my favourite tze char orders, and this one was done right. The egg is fried with a bit of starch so it crisps up at the edges while staying soft and a little gooey in the middle, with juicy little oysters dotted throughout, each one a briny, slippery burst. A good spoon of the tangy chilli sauce over the top is essential, cutting through the richness and lifting every bite.

The Hokkien mee was the comforting noodle half. Yellow noodles and bee hoon braised in a savoury prawn stock until they soak it all up, with prawn, squid and crispy pork lard through it, finished with a squeeze of the calamansi and a dab of sambal to brighten and spice it up.

Two classic tze char dishes, one rich and eggy, one savoury and noodly, that go brilliantly together. A proper, comforting Sunday dinner.

Overall: 4.7 / 5. πŸ˜‹πŸ‘πŸΌ A crispy-edged oyster omelette and a savoury, prawn-stock Hokkien mee, classic tze char done well. Would re-visit.
