A Western brunch with BB, stretched further by Burpple Beyond 1-for-1: gambas aglio olio, Tiger fish and chips, and a couple of fruity drinks (tropical fantasy and paradise shake) for an effective $35.30. π
What we had:
- Gambas aglio olio: linguine tossed with prawns, garlic, olive oil and chilli
- Tiger fish and chips: beer-battered fish with fries, salad and tartar sauce
- Tropical fantasy and Paradise shake: two pink, tropical-fruit drinks
The gambas aglio olio was the pick of the plates. Linguine slicked in garlicky, chilli-flecked olive oil with a generous scatter of prawns, simple but done right, the pasta al dente and the prawns sweet and snappy. It is the kind of clean, garlicky pasta that never disappoints.
The fish and chips was the comfort order: a long fillet in a crisp, light Tiger beer batter that stayed crunchy, with hot fries and a squeeze of lemon to cut the richness. The fruity drinks were sweet and refreshing alongside, the festive sort of thing you order on a lazy weekend.
The real win was the bill. With the Burpple 1-for-1, the whole spread of two mains and two drinks came to $35.30, well under what it would normally run.
Overall: 4.7 / 5. πππΌ Garlicky prawn pasta and crisp Tiger-battered fish, great value on the 1-for-1. Would re-do.
