Black coffee ($1.70), Mocha ($3.30), Sor hei ($4)!
A cafe coffee-and-pastry stop: a black coffee, a mocha with heart latte art, and a sor hei, a striking dark charcoal-hued croissant.
A coffee-and-pastry stop with BB: a black coffee ($1.70), a mocha ($3.30), and a sor hei ($4). π
What we had ($9 total):
- Black coffee ($1.70)
- Mocha ($3.30), poured with a heart in the foam
- Sor hei ($4): a striking dark, almost-charcoal croissant
The two coffees covered both moods. The black coffee was the no-frills one, dark and aromatic for when you just want the coffee straight. The mocha was the treat: espresso and chocolate under silky steamed milk, finished with a neat little heart of latte art, smooth and not too sweet.
The fun part was the sor hei, that dramatic dark croissant. The deep charcoal-coloured outside was all flaky, crackly layers shattering as you bit in, with a soft, buttery centre underneath. It looked bold and almost burnt, but ate like a proper laminated pastry, rich and buttery, and made a great partner to the chocolatey mocha.
A simple, comforting little spread, good coffee and a showy pastry, and at $9 for all three a tidy afternoon pick-me-up.
Overall: 4.6 / 5. πππΌ A smooth heart-topped mocha and a flaky charcoal croissant, a fun coffee break. Would re-order.
