What we had:
- A cone with two scoops: popping root beer float and roasted pistachio
These two could not be more different, which is exactly why they made a great pairing. The popping root beer float was the playful one: a creamy, vanilla-tinged scoop flavoured like a root beer float, the gimmick being little bits of popping candy mixed through, so it fizzes and crackles on your tongue as it melts. It is nostalgic and silly in the best way, the soda-shop float turned into ice cream.
The roasted pistachio was the grown-up, more serious scoop. Made with real roasted pistachios, it had that lovely natural pale-green colour (the sign it is the real thing, not artificially dyed) and a deep, nutty, faintly savoury flavour balanced against the sweet cream. Smooth, fragrant and properly nutty.
Eating one fizzing-and-fun scoop on top of one rich-and-nutty one made for a great contrast, a bit of childhood joy and a bit of artisan craft in the same cone.
Overall: 4.7 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ A fizzy, playful root beer float scoop and a deep, nutty roasted pistachio, a fun pairing. Would re-visit.
