月光河粉 ($5) & 伊面 ($4.50)!

A tze char dinner with BB, two classics to share: 月光河粉 (moonlight hor fun, $5) and 伊面 (yi mein, $4.50). 😋

What we had ($9.50 total):

The moonlight hor fun is named for the raw egg yolk perched in the middle like a little moon. You break and stir it through the hot, smoky noodles and it coats every strand in a silky, carbonara-like richness. The hor fun itself had a good charred wok-hei smokiness, with bean sprouts for crunch and a bit of chilli for heat.

The yi mein was the lighter, soupier counterpart. These are the springy “longevity noodles” you get at celebrations, served here in a clear, savoury broth with slices of pork, fishcake, a prawn and some greens, comforting and clean against the rich, dark hor fun.

One smoky and silky, one clean and soothing, the two balanced each other nicely. A classic, shareable tze char pair for under ten dollars.

Overall: 4.6 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Silky egg-coated moonlight hor fun and a comforting soupy yi mein. Would re-order.
