A cheerful little treat with BB: a slice of rainbow cake, $3.50 each or 2 for $6, so of course we got two. ππ
What we had ($6 for 2 slices):
- Rainbow cake: six layers of coloured sponge with cream between, topped with white and pink chocolate curls
You cannot help but smile at a slice of rainbow cake. This one had the full stack of six sponge layers, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, sandwiched with thin layers of cream and finished with a fluffy white cream top scattered with white and pink chocolate curls. So pretty when you see the cross-section.
The sponge was soft and light, the cream cool and not too sweet, and the chocolate curls added a nice little snap on top. It is more about the fun and the look than any complex flavour, a plain vanilla sponge really, but sometimes that is exactly the point: a soft, sweet, colourful slice to share over coffee.
At 2 for $6 it was a fun, cheap pick-me-up, the kind of dessert that brightens an ordinary afternoon.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. πππΌ A soft, pretty six-layer rainbow slice, all the fun of the colours. Would re-order.
