TGIF lunch ($3.80)!

TGIF! πŸ˜‹ A simple, wallet-friendly hawker lunch to wind down the week: $3.80.

What I had:

This is the everyday economical-rice approach: a base of fried bee hoon with a few toppings pointed out from the spread. The fried bee hoon was the savoury, slightly smoky foundation, those thin rice vermicelli soaking up soy and a little chilli. Over it went soft, sweet braised cabbage that adds moisture, a wobbly slab of steamed egg tofu flecked with spring onion (the silky, comforting bit), and a tangy tang hoon salad with cucumber for a cool, crunchy contrast.

It is the kind of plate that quietly ticks every box: something savoury, something soft, something fresh, all for under four dollars. The cold teh peng alongside was the perfect Friday refresher.

Nothing about it is fancy, and that is the charm. A cheap, balanced, satisfying hawker plate to ease into the weekend.

Overall: 4.5 / 5. πŸ˜‹πŸ‘πŸΌ Savoury fried bee hoon with silky egg tofu and a fresh tang hoon salad, honest value at $3.80. Would re-do.
