Happy mid week brunch ($53.50)!

Wednesday phase-2 mid-week brunch $53.50 — mid-tier sit-down restaurant spread. Back at the sweet spot pricing.

Happy mid week brunch ($53.50)!

Wednesday mid-week brunch with BB — $53.50 sit-down spread, back at the mid-tier restaurant pricing that we’d settled into as the post-lockdown sustainable rate.

We ordered (mid-week brunch):

Total: $53.50 for the spread.

The $53.50 brunch pricing sits at the sweet spot. Substantial enough to be a proper restaurant meal, restrained enough not to feel indulgent on a weekday. Roughly $25-27 per person for sit-down brunch is the fair-value zone in 2020 Singapore — anything significantly higher requires a special-occasion justification.

Mains were classic brunch plates — a protein, eggs, a small carb base, plated cleanly. Less elaborate than the multi-component plates we’d done at the higher-tier restaurants last week, but each main was a complete meal on its own.

Shared side was a small plate of vegetables or a quick salad. The greens-and-fresh component against the protein-egg-carb heaviness of the mains.

Drinks were the standard cafe defaults. One specialty coffee for me, a smoothie or fresh juice for BB.

The pacing of the post-lockdown brunch return was settling into a sustainable pattern. After the initial $100+ splurges of the previous week, we’d recalibrated. Mid-week sit-down brunches stayed in the rotation but at the $50-60 sweet-spot pricing rather than the $150 ceiling.

The home brunches still held the weekday majority. The sit-down brunches became the planned mid-week or end-of-week treats. The split-rotation made both halves more enjoyable — the home brunches as comfort, the restaurant brunches as small events.

Phase 2 eating-out math was working itself out.

Overall: 4.2 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Reliable mid-week brunch at the right price — would repeat.
