Saturday's brunch!

Saturday brunch at home with BB — the steady weekend home kitchen routine continues into mid-November.

Today’s plate:

The November Saturday brunch had the same shape as every other Saturday brunch this year.

Hot rice base was the standard fluffy jasmine.

Fried egg was the M-style sunny-side.

Stir-fried vegetables today were cabbage shreds with carrot strips, smashed garlic and a splash of soy.

Pan-seared protein was a small portion of sausage rounds.

Chilli sauce on the side as always.

We sat at the kitchen table, drank coffee from the V60, ate slow. November weather was cooler, the kitchen warmer during cooking.

The home weekend brunch had become one of the small steady anchors of 2020. Six weeks left in the year and the routine was still the steady comfort. Phase 2 had given us back the option of cafe brunches, but the home routine had proven itself.

Some lockdown habits earn their permanence. The home weekend brunch sits firmly at the top of that list.
