Friday TGIF home brunch — rice, eggs, vegetables. End-of-October kitchen routine continuing.
TGIF brunch at home with BB — last Friday of October, the home weekday brunch routine continues into the final stretch of 2020.
Today’s plate:
- Hot rice base
- Fried egg (sunny-side)
- Stir-fried vegetables
- Pan-seared protein
- Chilli sauce on the side
The TGIF brunch is the end-of-work-week comfort meal.
Hot rice base was the standard fluffy jasmine.
Fried egg was the M-style sunny-side.
Stir-fried vegetables today were cabbage shreds with carrot strips, smashed garlic and a splash of soy.
Pan-seared protein was a small portion of sausage rounds.
Chilli sauce on the side as always.
We sat at the kitchen counter, drank coffee from the V60, ate slow. Friday energy was the looser end-of-week mode.
October had been a full month of the steady home brunch routine punctuated by occasional restaurant breaks, hawker stops, and post-exercise refuels. The pattern had earned its rhythm.
Some lockdown habits earn their permanence post-reopening.
