Signature ramen + Mont Blanc cake set ($22) @ Tampopo!
Tampopo's $22 promotion set: a signature creamy pork-bone ramen paired with their famous Mont Blanc chestnut cake. At Liang Court, River Valley.
A treat lunch at Tampopo: their $22 signature ramen + cake set, which pairs a bowl of ramen with the Mont Blanc they are famous for. ππ°π
What we had ($22 set):
- Signature ramen in a creamy pork-bone broth
- Mont Blanc chestnut cake
Tampopo is the long-running Japanese restaurant at Liang Court in the River Valley area, and their deli side is just as well known for Japanese-French pastries, the Mont Blanc chief among them. This promotion set lets you have both in one sitting.
The ramen came in a thick, milky pork-bone broth, the creamy tonkotsu-style kind that clings to the noodles. Tucked in were thin folds of tender sliced pork, a whole braised shiitake mushroom, sweet corn, soft cabbage and a scatter of spring onion over springy yellow noodles. It is a comforting, well-balanced bowl, the broth rich without being heavy, the mushroom adding a deep savoury note.

Tampopoβs Mont Blanc, fine chestnut cream piped over a tart base and topped with a glazed marron and gold leaf.
Then the Mont Blanc, a tall swirl of fine chestnut-cream vermicelli dusted with icing sugar, piled over a soft sponge and tart base, crowned with a glossy glazed chestnut. It is elegant and not too sweet, the chestnut earthy and nutty, the cream light, a proper patisserie finish to a ramen lunch.
Ramen plus a signature dessert for $22 is a good deal here, especially with the Mont Blanc being the thing people make the trip for.
Overall: 4.2 / 5. πππΌ A rich, comforting pork-bone ramen and that lovely chestnut Mont Blanc. Would re-visit.
