Americano ($4); Cocoa latte ($5); Banana cognac pie ($7)!
A post-dinner cafe treat: an americano, a cocoa-mocha latte with a tidy rosetta, and a slice of banana cognac cream pie. $16.
A relaxed post-dinner cafe with BB: an Americano ($4), a cocoa latte ($5) and a slice of banana cognac pie ($7). โ๐๐
What we had ($16 total):
- Americano: black coffee, espresso lengthened with hot water
- Cocoa latte: a chocolate-mocha latte with a tidy rosetta poured on top
- Banana cognac pie: a slice with a biscuit base, banana cream and a hint of cognac
We went one bold black coffee and one sweeter chocolatey one, plus a slice to share. The Americano was the clean, no-frills order: espresso topped up with hot water, so you get the full roasty coffee flavour without the milk. Strong and straightforward, and lovely value at $4.
The cocoa latte was the indulgent one, espresso and chocolate folded into steamed milk for a mocha that is rich and comforting, finished with a careful leaf poured in the foam. Chocolatey and smooth, a little dessert in a cup.
And the banana cognac pie was the real treat. A buttery biscuit base topped with smooth banana cream, with a hint of cognac warming the filling against the banana sweetness, all under a cloud of whipped cream. The little splash of brandy gives it a grown-up edge over a plain banana cream pie, fragrant and not too sweet. The kind of slice that goes perfectly with coffee.
A lovely little wind-down, two coffees and a sweet slice between us.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ A bold americano, a rich cocoa latte and a boozy banana pie, a lovely cafe trio. Would re-order.
