Twelve Cupcakes: Blackout chocolate cake ($29.80)!
A whole Blackout chocolate cake from Twelve Cupcakes ($29.80): a rich dark chocolate sponge coated in chocolate crumbs and topped with chocolate curls and a cocoa dusting.
A whole Blackout chocolate cake from Twelve Cupcakes, $29.80. π«π For the serious chocolate lovers.
The Blackout is exactly what the name promises: a deeply chocolatey cake, a dark chocolate sponge coated all over in chocolate crumbs and crowned with chocolate curls and a dusting of cocoa. No gimmicks, no charcoal, just chocolate on chocolate on chocolate.
Itβs the kind of cake that delivers on richness without being sickly. The sponge was moist and properly cocoa-forward (more bittersweet than sugary), the crumb coating added a nice textural contrast against the soft cake, and the chocolate curls on top were a pretty, melt-in-the-mouth finish. A small slice goes a long way, which is just as well for a whole cake.
Twelve Cupcakes is best known for its cupcakes, but this whole Blackout cake at $29.80 is a great shout when you need something to share (or to mark an occasion) and someone at the table is a confirmed chocoholic. Rich, comforting and satisfying.
Overall: 4.7 / 5. πππΌ A properly rich, bittersweet chocolate cake with great texture from the crumb coating and curls. A chocolate loverβs dream. Would re-order.
