Dumpling noodles ($3.50)!

A comforting hawker lunch to start the week, dumpling noodles for $3.50, served dry. ๐Ÿ˜‹

What we had:

This was the dry version, which I like because you really taste the noodles and the dumplings. The base is springy thin egg noodles (mee kia) tossed in a savoury dark sauce, glossy and well seasoned without being too salty.

The dumplings are the stars: four or five big ones, plump with a pork-and-prawn filling wrapped in soft skins and draped over the noodles. Bite into one and you get that juicy, savoury filling with a little sweetness from the prawn. A slice of springy fishcake and a stalk of greens round out the plate, and a spoon of the chilli paste on the side adds a tangy, spicy lift when you stir it through.

Simple, generous and very satisfying for $3.50, the kind of honest dry noodle plate that makes an easy, happy lunch.

Overall: 4.4 / 5. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Springy dry noodles with big juicy pork-and-prawn dumplings and a tangy chilli. Would re-order.
