What we had:
- Flat white and rainbow cake set: a coffee paired with a tall slice of rainbow layer cake
- Turmeric latte: a warm golden-milk drink
The rainbow cake was the showpiece, and it really is as cheery as it looks: six bright layers of soft sponge (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) stacked with cream and coated in a smooth white frosting. It is light and not too sweet, the kind of cake that is as fun to slice into as it is to eat. The flat white alongside was the grown-up balance, a short, strong, velvety coffee that cut nicely through the sweet cake.
The turmeric latte (golden milk) was the cosy curveball: steamed milk warmed through with turmeric, ginger and cinnamon, sweetened gently with honey. It is earthy and gently spiced, soothing rather than sugary, a comforting change from a regular coffee.
A lovely little spread: a playful cake, a proper coffee, and a warming spiced latte. Exactly the unhurried sort of cafe stop I enjoy.
Overall: 4.6 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ A pretty, light rainbow cake with a smooth flat white and a soothing turmeric latte. Would re-visit.
