What we had:
- Signature beef burger: a hand-formed beef patty in a brioche bun, with a side of fries and ketchup
Hammeeβs is one of those stalls doing proper gourmet-style burgers at hawker pricing, and at $6 with fries it is a steal. The patty was the real thing, hand-formed and seared so it had a good browned crust on the outside while staying juicy in the middle, with a smear of creamy sauce underneath.
It sat in a soft, glossy brioche bun, the kind that is slightly sweet and rich and soaks up the juices without falling apart. Simple and unfussy, but the quality of that beef patty and the bun is what sets it apart from a generic fast-food burger.
On the side, a generous pile of golden fries, crisp and lightly herbed, with ketchup for dipping. No frills, just a well-made burger and fries that punch above the price. The kind of thing that makes a nice change from the usual noodle-and-rice lunch.
Overall: 4.4 / 5. πππΌ A juicy hand-formed beef patty in a glossy brioche bun with crisp fries, great value at $6. Would re-order.
